The Signature Tour

£800 per boat

A half day on Loch Lomond, based on the type of day we would spend with our friends or family if they came to visit.

Who runs private speedboat tours on Loch Lomond? Chris Scott-Park runs the Signature Tour as Portnellan Farm Speedboat Tours, from the farm's own jetty at Portnellan near Gartocharn. The boat is a Husky R8 for up to 8 guests. The price is per boat.

About this tour

We start from our private farm jetty at Portnellan with introductions and a short safety briefing. Then we board the Husky for a half day excursion.

Once clear of the bay, a short blast across open water brings us to the Highland Boundary Fault Line and the gateway to the Highlands. As we go further north we pass Ross Dhu House, seat of the clan Colquhoun and now home to Loch Lomond Golf Club. A calm cruise through the islands that make up the Narrows gives time to take in one of the most scenic areas on the loch and to learn a little of its history. Keep your eyes peeled for the Highland cows of Inchtavannoch.

A mile or so north of the islands is the village of Luss, below Ben Dubh. We make our first stop here. The village is worth a visit. There is also a new distillery where guests can pick up a local dram.

Setting off again, we head further north. The landscape changes from rolling lowland hills to rugged highland. The mountains rise steeply from the shore and tower above the boat, much like a Norwegian fjord. Then we turn south for the island of Inchmurrin, home to the Scott family for nearly 100 years. The family run a restaurant on the island, a good place for a meal and a taste of local produce.

After lunch we board the Husky once more and cruise along the length of the Fault Line to Inchcailloch. A short walk up the hill takes you to one of the best view points on Loch Lomond and the ruins of an ancient church and burial ground used by the MacGregor and MacFarlane clans. Once lunch is walked off we leave the island and make the short journey back to Portnellan to finish where the tour began.
